Contract Floors has grown from a small, home-based enterprise to a leader in the Commercial Floor Covering Industry. Contract Floors history began in 1963 with a partnership between Cor Kop and Eddie Ryan under the name of “Kop & Ryan”.
Kop and Ryan opened their first shop on Cavendish Road in Coorparoo, where the business flourished. In 1972 the business was sold to local businessman Bill Ott who purchased Kop and Ryan and changed the name to Contract Floor Coverings. The business relocated to a warehouse on Clarence Street in Coorparoo and continued to experience steady success. After 5 years the business had grown substantially and in 1977 Contract Floor Coverings moved to a larger warehouse in Westerway Street, Slacks Creek, and continued to service the SEQ region. The business changed hands twice more (1988 - Ron Porter and John Menhinnitt, 2015 - Paul & Theresa Cross) until coming under new ownership in 2024. The Thurlow family are now the proud custodians with the business located in Virginia, 4014, QLD.

We follow and adhere to the Green Star Rating tools to help the building industry reduce environmental impacts, improve occupant health and productivity and achieve real cost savings, while showcasing innovation in sustainable building practices. As part of our recycling initiative, we actively collect, and store flooring remnants and materials removed from projects and promote the use of recycled products. Wherever possible, excess material is donated to community groups and welfare organizations, reducing waste and supporting those in need.
